We are nearing the end of February and the end of the third quarter of kindergarten. Please be sure to stay up-to-date by looking at the reminders for our class, found below.
Sight Words- Your child will be taking a third quarter assessment where we will ask them to read all of the sight words we have learned so far. A list or words can be found in their BEE binder, and on our website. Preliminary grades on this assessment can be found in Aeries. If your child did not score 100%, we will continue to practice and assess at least one more time.
Patriots Ball Basket- The Patriots Ball is Temecula Prep's largest fundraiser of the year. It is a wonderful night of dinner, dancing and helping a great cause, our great school. Our kindergarten room moms are putting together a kitchen themed gift basket for the silent auction, and we need your help! If your family would be willing to donate to our kindergarten basket, please sign up HERE. All donations need to be received by February 28th. Thank you for your generosity and support. If you would like to attend the Patriots Ball, tickets can be purchased via the Temecula Prep webstore.
Spring Showcase/Open House- Save the date of April 9 for our annual Spring Showcase and Art Fair. You will have the opportunity to tour classrooms on campus and see your child's artwork from the Meet the Masters art program. More details will be coming soon!
Reading Fluency- We will begin to assess students reading fluency during the 4th quarter, in preparation for first grade. The goal is to have every student reading 26 words per minute by the end of the year. Here is our Rapid Readers Parent Letter, which explains our reading fluency program, its benefits, how you can help at home, and how you can stay up-to-date on how well your child is reading.
Prep Work Help Needed- I have been asked many times throughout the year how parents can help in the classroom. Well, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! Every year, we ask parents to volunteer their time to prep classwork for the upcoming year. Last year's parents prepped the work your children have been completing all year, and this is a great way to pay it forward to next year's students. Our biggest need is for CLEARED parents to help prep at school, but there are opportunities to prep at home, too. If you'd like to help, please see our Prep Work Sign Up. Thank you in advance!
Spring Break- Spring Break will be from March 23-April 6. We will see you all back on April 7.
